Ombudsman’s Office of the Republic of Latvia has published their 2014 Annual report in English.

 

In 2014 the Commissioner for the Protection from Discrimination of Republic of Albania published a Special Report for the Protection and Respect of the Rights of the LGBTI Community in Albania.

 

Slovak National Centre for Human Rights issued its 2014 Annual Report.

 

Equinet’s Irish member, the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission (the Commission), today, published its policy statement on access to civil marriage. Welcoming the proposed referendum, the Commission believes that the opening out of civil marriage to two persons, without distinction as to their sex, is a matter of equality and human rights. The Commission stated that to promote access to civil marriage and to enhance full protection of family life for all couples, without distinction as to their sex, the referendum is an important step.

 

Freedom of Expression

The Equality and Human Rights Commission has published new legal guidance on freedom of expression in the UK.

 

Sex discrimination is the second most common cause for complaint to the Equality Commission for Northern Ireland (ECNI) and women’s treatment in the workplace gives rise to the largest proportion of these complaints.

 

In December 2011 the Swedish government commissioned a preliminary study concerning the development of national equality data. The task to conduct the study was given to the Swedish Equality Ombudsman (EO). The study was to examine those methods that might be suitable for collecting data in relation to five of the seven discrimination grounds in the Discrimination Act (age and sex were excluded from the study) as well as in relation to the five recognized national minorities.

 

The Danish Institute for Human Rights published a new kind of status report, giving an overview of a wide range of issues and providing recommendations for improvement.

 

The Equality Commission for Northern Ireland has published its Annual Report covering the period 1 April 2011 to 31 March 2012.

 

The British Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) releases two reports, one featuring recommendations for action against disability related harassment and the other exploring the impact of commissioning and funding on women-only services.
