Equinet - European network of equality bodies

The EU Fundamental Rights Agency (FRA) and the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) jointly launched a Handbook on European Non-Discrimination Law on 21 March 2011 in Strasbourg.

On the 21 March 2011 the Commissioner for human rights of the Council of Europe gave his opinion on national structures promoting equality.

The European Network Against Racism launched its 6th Shadow Report on Racism in Europe on Monday 21 March 2011

Release of the FRA fifth report in a series of ’Data in Focus’ publications from the EU MIDIS survey. The central theme of the report is multiple discrimination.

The European Commission commissioned a study on Equality Bodies set up under Directives 2000/43/EC, 2004/113/EC and 2006/54/EC. The synthesis report is now available to the public.

This report updates the FRA comparative legal analysis of discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity first published in June 2008. It also takes a closer look at the work of equality bodies and Equinet on this issue.

A report focuses on the perspective of the organisations of persons with disabilities in using the tools provided by the Employment Directive to promote disability equality in employment. The breadth of the equality bodies and ombudspersons’ work is also analysed.

Terri Givens, Associate Professor from the University of Texas recently published a legal exploring the implementation of the Racial Equality Directive in Europe.
