Equinet - European network of equality bodies

Home >> Equinet Activities >> Events

Equinet aims to strengthen and support equality bodies and acts as the expert voice of equality bodies to advance equality for all. Facilitating the development of expert and institutional capacities for our members and conveying the knowledge and expertise of equality bodies at European and international levels are two of the ways we aim to achieve those objectives.

In our capacity building and awareness raising events, we aim to have gender equality on all panels and to choose expert speakers representing a variety of minority groups. The voices of young people are included as often as possible. We try to include an intersectional approach and a broad range of voices on all topics, not just linked to a given ground of discrimination. Speaker diversity is something we strongly believe in and commit to promoting as much as possible.

This High Level Seminar was held on 27 June 2013 in Brussels and is the first event dedicated to gender equality organised by Equinet following the incorporation of the work of the former European Commission led Network of Gender Equality Bodies.

The seminar focused on discussions on the application of the Race Equality Directive and the General Framework Directive

On 18-19 March 2013 in Berlin, Equinet, with the support and hosting of the Federal Anti-Discrimination Agency of Germany, organised a training dedicated exclusively to national equality bodies.

Equinet organised on 26-27 September its second annual training with the support of its Maltese member, the National Commission for the Promotion of Equality (NCPE).

The training was organised for Equinet members on 23-24 May 2012 by Equinet in collaboration with the Office of the Equal Opportunities Ombudsperson in Lithuania.

Building on the success of past editions, Equinet organized on 28 March 2012 its fourth High-Level Legal Seminar on "Discrimination cases in front of the European Courts and the role of national equality bodies".

On 29 November 2011, Equinet has organized the second High-Level Meeting with Heads of National Equality Bodies, representatives of European institutions, and other important stakeholders

On 12-13 September 2011, Equinet organised a two-day legal training focusing on the conflicts of the right to equal treatment and other fundamental rights.

Equinet held a successful training event on the development, deployment and monitoring of effective communication strategies on 30-31 May at the Danish Institute for Human Rights, Copenhagen.

A big thank you to all who participated in the Equinet Legal Seminar 28 March 2011!
