The issue of intersecting grounds is a recent focus for anti-discrimination and equality work. It is underdeveloped in theory, policy and practice, despite being a key challenge to the future of equality and non-discrimination.

This Equinet Perspective aims to set out the contribution of equality bodies to intersectionality issues, as well as suggesting ways forward for further developing this work in the future.

The Equinet Evaluation Lab aimed to provide a platform for expert staff members of equality bodies interested in measuring the impact of their work. Today, Equinet is publishing the final outcomes of the project in order to stimulate discussions on the evaluation work of equality bodies within and outside its membership.

This Handbook, prepared by members of Equinet’s Working Group on Gender Equality, aims to be a practical and useful tool for anyone who works on equal pay cases, guiding you to existing resources, data, partners and arguments that have been successful in the past.

Equinet Chair Evelyn Collins recently participated in the General Assembly of the European Network of National Human Rights Institutions (ENNHRI) and spoke about the need for standards for equality bodies, as well as the discriminatory impact of counter terrorism measures in Europe.

It was a great opportunity to meet with some of our members, which due to their mandate are not only Equality Bodies, but also National Human Rights Institutions.

Equinet is running a call for proposals in order to identify the best candidate to carry out its external evaluation for 2016.

This Working Paper is based on discussions that took place during the Equinet Cluster on Standards in 2015, as well as contributions and comments provided since then by Equinet members.

It seeks to establish positions that equality bodies could promote, negotiate and advance vis-à-vis European and national administrations in the establishment of standards for equality bodies at European level and their implementation at national level.

Following the recent focus on the important work of journalists to promote equality and diversity, Equinet is deeply concerned to hear that one of the winners of the European Journalism Award on Diversity has received hateful and threatening posts on social media.

We condemn all forms of online hate speech, and do not tolerate trolls who threaten the work of journalists in general.

Equinet Chair Evelyn Collins and Executive Director Anne Gaspard met with the Irish Human Rights and Equality Chief Commissioner Emily Logan and her team while in Dublin on 17 October last.

The European Commission announced the winners of the European Journalist Awards on Diversity at the historical General Post Office in Dublin on Monday, 17th October. This Award recognises excellent journalism that promotes diversity and raises awareness of discrimination in the EU.

Equinet, together with the Hungarian Office of the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights, organised a one and a half day capacity-building seminar for equality bodies’ staff members about fighting discrimination based on the grounds of race and ethnic origin. The meeting took place in Budapest on 9-10 November 2016.
