Equinet

This publication was prepared by Equinet’s Working Group on Equality Law in Practice. The group consists of legal experts working at National Equality Bodies and focuses on how European and national equality legislation is implemented and interpreted.

On 18-19 March 2013 in Berlin, Equinet, with the support and hosting of the Federal Anti-Discrimination Agency of Germany, organised a training dedicated exclusively to national equality bodies.

This Equinet perspective reflects the body of work carried out by equality bodies when dealing with cases of discrimination on the grounds of ethnic or racial origin. It also analyses the law governing this work and the strategic approach to this work.

Equinet celebrated its 5th anniversary at the Annual General Meeting that took place on 5th December in Brussels. As a result of the meeting, Equinet gained its 38th member - Commission for the Protection against Discrimination of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and voted in favour of the incorporation of the former gender equality bodies’ network.

This perspective was prepared by Equinet’s Working Group on Policy Formation and addresses key current challenges and opportunities facing national equality bodies in the context of the economic and financial crisis.

Equinet organised on 26-27 September its second annual training with the support of its Maltese member, the National Commission for the Promotion of Equality (NCPE).

Equinet, the European Network of Equality Bodies has recently released its Annual Report for the year 2011. The report, which is available in both English and French, showcases Equinet’s major achievements, activities and outputs from 2011, including Equinet’s work on tackling age dicrimination.

The guide contains good practice examples and case studies from the Danish Institute for Human Rights and other national equality bodies. It is designed for equality bodies to help them build knowledge and a greater understanding of instruments and approaches available to promote diversity to employers.
